Network2Work

Today in the Charlottesville region there are 12,024 families that do not earn enough income to meet the costs of survival. That is nearly one out of every five families (19%) in our community. Most are single mothers and their children. PVCC built the Network2Work program to move these 12,024 families to income independence and break the cycle of multi-generational poverty.

PVCC's Network 2Work Program identifies these struggling families through a Peer Network, connects them to quality jobs through an Employer Network, and supports them through a Provider Network. Through Network2Work, PVCC is focused on lifting 4,000 families out of poverty over the next eight years.

Great Expectations Program for Foster Youth

PVCC's Great Expectations program is part of a statewide initiative that helps current and former foster care youth in Virginia to gain access to a community college education and transition successfully to living independently. Using PVCC resources and working with community agencies and individuals, Great Expectations serves 40 to 50 students annually with a full menu of academic, career and support services. A priority of the Great Expectations program is to help PVCC foster youth succeed.

Kathy Hudson Student Emergency Fund

The Kathy Hudson Student Emergency Grant Fund provides quick-response emergency grants to currently enrolled students in good academic standing who are facing a short-term financial emergency that may hinder successful academic progression or cause withdrawal from the college. The goal of the fund is to help students remain enrolled in classes. Emergency funding is not intended to provide ongoing assistance for routine expenses or as a supplement for educational expenses.
