Dual Credit

Dual Credit is the terminology used to refer to any high school or homeschool student concurrently taking PVCC classes at one of our campus locations or online.  The college credits obtained are then used to supplement the high school or homeschool graduation requirements, as applicable.  The steps to enrollment are included below (please note that the requirements differ between high school and homeschool dual credit enrollment).

 

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

  1. Apply online.
  2. Take the Virginia Placement Tests (VPTs) if applicable scores (see chart below) have not already been met. Learn more about the VPTs here http://www.pvcc.edu/admission/placement-tests
  3. Print and sign the High School Student Permission Form (attachment below)
  4. Print and sign the Mature Content Waiver Form (attachment below)
  5. Make an appointment with Jon Renshaw, Early College Advisor, (provide documentation of coursework).

HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS

  1. Apply online.
  2. Take the Virginia Placement Tests (VPTs) if applicable scores (see chart below) have not already been met.  Learn more about the VPTs here http://www.pvcc.edu/admission/placement-tests
  3. Print and sign the Mature Content Waiver Form (attachment below)
  4. Provide a copy of the approved "intent to homeschool" consent received from the student's respective school district or approved consent to homeschool under religious exemption.
  5. Make an appointment with Jon Renshaw, Early College Advisor, (provide documentation of coursework).
