Piedmont Scholars Program

The Program
The Piedmont Scholars Program was established in 2021 through the generous support of an anonymous donor. The program supports students at Piedmont Virginia Community College who want to transfer to the University of Virginia (UVA). It offers financial support – a scholarship to UVA that covers full tuition and fees – and support from a transfer advocate, who helps students succeed.
Eligibility
All in-state PVCC students pursuing a transferable associate degree, who apply for transfer admission to UVA as a third-year, full-time, degree-seeking student, are eligible for consideration.
Program candidates are:
- High School graduates pursuing a degree at PVCC who have a strong academic record
- Pursuing first bachelor’s degree
- Virginia residents
- Reflected in two of the following criteria -
- First-generation college student
- From a low/moderate income family
- History of overcoming adversity
- Raised in a single-parent household
- Reside in a rural or inner-city location - Able to demonstrate leadership or service outside the classroom (on campus, at work, in your neighborhood, or within your family)
- Committed to promoting positive change in the larger community
Application
For consideration, the transfer application, official high school transcript and college transcripts must be submitted and received by UVA Undergraduate Admissions by March 1.
The UVA transfer admission application also serves as the application for the Piedmont Scholars Program. To ensure you will be properly considered for this award, be sure to indicate PVCC as your primary institution within the application and take the time to represent yourself by selecting prompts/topics that share more about you within the application.
PVCC students applying to UVA will receive an additional Piedmont Scholarship question in their application portal to be completed.
Selected recipients will be notified in May and will be invited to a virtual Piedmont Scholar Welcome and Q&A session, followed by an in-person celebration event.
