The Practical Nursing Certificate at Piedmont Virginia Community College is a one-year program that prepares you to take care of patients in extended care and other non-acute care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living centers, doctors' offices, clinics and private homes. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for licensure after successful completion of the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

After applying to PVCC, students must also Apply to the Practical Nursing Program. Completion of general education courses is one criteria used to make admissions decisions.

The application for the Practical Nursing program for spring 2019 are available on August 3, 2018 at 3 PM and will close on October 5, 2018 at 5 PM.
