The 22-credit Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Career Studies Certificate Program prepares individuals to work as entry-level MRI imaging technologists. Magnetic resonance imaging uses magnets and radio waves to produce detailed, three-dimensional scans of the human body. PVCC's MRI Program can be completed in two semesters. Successful graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the following national MRI certification exam:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT®

2nd Semester (Spring)

  • RAD 248 - Case Studies in MRI  -  3 Credit(s)
  • RAD 251 - Advanced Patient Care  -  3 Credit(s)
  • RAD 296 - On Site Training II - CT or MRI Clinical  -  5 Credit(s)

All courses can be offered for CEU credits, with the exception of clinical courses. 


Compliance Requirements

Admissions Requirements: 

Prior to enrollment in the MRI program, students must hold a current ARRT licensure as a Radiographer in one of the following disciplines: 

  • ARRT Radiography
  • ARRT Radiation Therapy
  • ARRT or NMTCB Nuclear Medicine
  • ARRT or ARDMS Sonography
