How To Apply for Financial Aid

1. Apply to PVCC & Select a Program of Study

  • Submit an Online Application Admission is free. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a Student ID number and username. Keep this information for your records. When applying for admission at PVCC, please provide your social security number on the admission application so that your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be received and linked to your file.
  • Meet with an Advisor Make an appointment with an academic advisor or attend an orientation session. Make sure to declare an eligible major when you meet with an advisor.

2. Create an FSA ID

Visit FSA ID If you are required to provide parental information on the FAFSA, at least one parent must create an FSA ID. The FSA ID acts as an electronic signature. Signing your FAFSA electronically is the most convenient way to submit your FAFSA but you can submit it in other ways.

3. Submit the FAFSA

  • Send FAFSA to PVCC In the School Selection portion of the FAFSA, enter PVCC using the federal school code (009928).

The support specialist will answer your questions or escalate a ticket to have a financial aid or Student Accounts staff return your call within 48 hours.
  • I Already Have an FSA ID If you already have an FSA ID and have forgotten your login information, contact FSA ID directly. They will help you retrieve your account information.

4. Verify your Student Aid Report (SAR)

After you submit your FAFSA form, you’ll get a Student Aid Report that summarizes the information you provided on your application. Review your SAR carefully to make sure it’s correct and complete. Students can make corrections to the FAFSA. Allow 3-5 days for corrections to process during peak times.

  • Login to MyPVCC to check your SIS Student Center.
    • Click SIS Student Information Button

9. PURCHASE BOOKS

If you have enough financial aid to cover the cost of your tuition and fees, your financial aid may be used to buy required textbooks and supplies at your campus bookstore before classes begin. Do you have aid left over to charge books?

  • Students with Financial Aid Awards packaged may charge books to their Financial Aid during specified periods. Books can be charged to your financial aid for Fall 2019 from August 5 - September 6, 2019. The last day to return books during the Fall 2019 term is September 6, 2019. Books can be charged to your financial aid for Spring 2020 from January 2-31, 2020. The last day to return books during the Spring 2020 term is January 31, 2020.Please purchase all books and supplies needed for the semester during this time frame. January 2-31 for the Spring 2020 semester.

HOW THIS PROCESS WORKS

  • Complete the PVCC Book Authorization To-Do List Item at least 24 hours before you visit the PVCC Bookstore. You will need your Student ID number.
  • Select your supplies from the bookstore.
  • At the register, provide your Student ID to the Bookstore Staff. Your financial aid will be accepted in place of payment.

Pay close attention to the return and exchange policies from the bookstore and that you acknowledge by signing the Bookstore Charge Authorization Form.

  • If I decide not to attend, I MUST return my purchases before the last day to drop for the semester and I must return my books BEFORE I drop my courses.
  • If my financial aid eligibility is reduced or canceled due to a change in my enrollment status or eligibility and does not cover the amount I have charged, I understand that I am responsible for paying the resulting balance and will be denied future services by the College until I have repaid this debt.
