What is Outreach?
Outreach researches and develops opportunities to connect with the public to recruit prospective adult students by attending community events, organizing and conducting information sessions and visiting area businesses in Charlottesville, Crozet, Scottsville, Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties.
Through events and information sessions, Outreach provides an introduction to degree and certificate programs, placement test materials and resources that help students get started at the college. Outreach encourages prospective students to apply and enroll at the college, and assists with the application, and with setting appointments with academic and financial aid advisors.
Outreach provides engagement opportunities for adult prospective students by organizing on campus events that appeal to adults, including the education and career resource fairs for adult learners and the Adult Student Life Club.
The Adult Student Life club hosts a series of talks called the Tuesday Evening Speaker Series. The series offers various presentations on diverse topics and is open to all students.
