The Port Republic neighborhood in Waynesboro, Virginia, is rich in history and culture. This documentary captures stories from those who call this historically African-American community home. First-hand accounts by residents detail school, church, and civic life in an upbeat production that celebrates a neighborhood and a culture.
A panel discussion with Scruggs and special guests Mary Baldwin University Professor of History Dr. Amy Tillerson-Brown and local historian Chris Wilmott follows the screening.
