PVCC Vice President of Student Affairs Appointed to American Association of Community Colleges Commission

Charlottesville, Va. – July 10, 2026 – Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) congratulates Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Andrew Renshaw on his appointment to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Research, Data, and Strategic Narrative. Renshaw will serve on the Commission through June 2029.

The Commission purpose is to provide forward‑looking, actionable guidance to the AACC Board and staff on how community colleges can leverage research, data, and storytelling to strengthen institutional resilience, advance student success, and shape the national narrative around the sector.

His leadership will contribute meaningfully to AACC’s important work, strengthening community colleges across Virginia and the nation, while also elevating the role our institutions play in shaping a strong, evidence-based dialogue about opportunity, access, and impact,” shared PVCC President Dr. Jean Runyon.

The AACC is the lead advocacy organization for the nation’s more than 1,000 community colleges. There are six new commissions authorized by the AACC Board. Each commission will consist of an average of 32 people from member institutions who are CEOs or administrators. The six Commissions are:

  • Commission on the Future of Work
  • Commission on Institutional and Financial Resilience
  • Commission on Professional Learning and Leadership Capacity
  • Commission on Research, Data, and Strategic Narrative
  • Commission on Small, Rural and Regional Resilience
  • Commission on Student Agency and Student Success, Learning Pathways, and Wellbeing
