PVCC Announces Return of Esteemed Singer‑Songwriter John McCutcheon for Concert
Charlottesville, Va. – April 16, 2026 – Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) will welcome the return of Grammy‑nominated singer‑songwriter John McCutcheon, a defining voice in American folk music, for a concert Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m., in the V. Earl Dickinson Building Main Stage Theatre.
McCutcheon brings to the stage a mix of new material and classic favorites, drawing from a decades-long career defined by masterful musicianship, engaging storytelling, and a deep commitment to socially conscious songwriting.
A gifted multi‑instrumentalist, McCutcheon continues the American folk tradition of documenting everyday joys and struggles, often exploring themes of social justice, labor rights, and community. His warmth, humor, and ability to connect authentically with audiences have earned him a devoted following nationwide.
The concert also highlights McCutcheon’s long‑standing creative collaboration with legendary folk artist Tom Paxton, a seminal figure in the 1960s Greenwich Village folk movement. The two have written hundreds of songs and released two albums, “Together” (2023) and the recently released “Together Again” (2026).
Paxton, a Grammy nominee and recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, has been praised by “Billboard” as “America’s Greatest Troubadour.” Although retired from touring after nearly six decades on the road, Paxton continues to shape the tradition through songwriting and recording.
Rooted in history yet unmistakably contemporary, McCutcheon’s return to PVCC offers a chance to experience an artist for whom folk music remains not a genre, but a calling.
