PVCC Student Daisy Dudley Named 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar

Charlottesville, Va. – March 16, 2022 – Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) proudly congratulates student Daisy Dudley, who has been named a 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Academic Team program, providing nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. The Scholars Foundation recognizes students who excel, with team selection based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service. Dudley is one of 150 total award recipients and one of only 50 Gold Scholar awardees.

“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said Jane Hale Hopkins, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa to make it possible for more deserving students to achieve their educational goals and support tomorrow’s leaders of the global community.”

Dudley is President of Phi Theta Kappa at PVCC and is pursuing a certificate in entrepreneurship alongside an associate degree in general studies. In addition to PTK, Dudley is engaged in the Ceramics Club, Geology Club and takes special interest in the intersection of activism and art within the community. After graduation she plans to transfer to a university with strong programs in business and the arts.

“Daisy Dudley is so deserving of this honor. She excels in academics, leadership and service. I am so happy that she joins the ranks of the many PVCC students honored by PTK over the years. With her talent , I look forward to seeing what she will accomplish during her life,” shared PVCC President Frank Friedman.

Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies and will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, in Denver, Colorado, April 7-9.
