Piedmont Virginia Community College Is One of America’s Best Colleges for Student Voting

Charlottesville, Va. – September 2, 2021 Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is designated one of “America’s Best Colleges for Student Voting” in the 2021 Washington Monthly annual College Guide and Rankings. Schools earning this honor are noted for “doing the most to turn students into citizens.” This year, 204 institutions of higher education are on the list, which is 47 more schools than the previous year. PVCC is one of four Virginia-based schools in the ranking; is the only community college in Virginia to make the list; and is one of 11 total community colleges listed nationwide.

“At PVCC we not only prepare students for successful careers, we prepare them to be engaged citizens in our community and the nation. I am so pleased that the successful  efforts of our faculty and staff are being recognized by Washington Monthly,” stated PVCC President Frank Friedman.

PVCC regularly makes the Best Colleges for Student Voting roster and repeatedly receives national recognition from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, which helps schools develop registration and turnout plans. The College also recently earned designation as a 2021-’22 Voter Friendly Campus for its efforts to increase voter engagement and registration among students.
