PVCC Art Department Launches Annual Student Exhibition

Charlottesville, Va. – April 23, 2021 – The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Art Department has launched the latest in its series of online art exhibitions. The “Annual Student Exhibition” showcases the achievements of more than 40 student artists over the latest academic year and features paintings, drawings, digital illustrations, ceramics and more. The virtual gallery is open to the public and will be featured online at www.pvcc.edu/performingarts through August, 26, 2021.

As in years past, the 2021 student exhibition highlights the best and brightest art and design works by a diverse student body spanning an array of creative disciplines. However, this year’s event will be held without the traditional opening celebration, dubbed the “Seventh Annual Chocolate Chow Down,” and the decadent amounts of chocolate that accompany it.

“For many students, this exhibition is the culmination of much hard work. This year had the added challenge of adjusting to studio art classes held remotely, but in spite of it all our students persisted and made interesting and quality work,” stated instructor and curator Fenella Belle. “If the festive reception is missed, I highly recommend sitting down with a favorite piece of chocolate and feasting!” said Belle.
