Piedmont Virginia Community College Launches PVCC4U – A New Tuition Assistance Program

Charlottesville, Va. – August 3, 2020 – Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) announces its innovative tuition assistance program, “PVCC4U,” designed to cover the full cost of tuition and fees for full-time, in-state students with income of $65,000 or less. PVCC4U is made possible through a progressive collaboration of the school and its Educational Foundation, and incorporates a combination of state and federal grants, institutional and private scholarships, and work study funds. The tuition assistance program is being offered for the first time ever and is applicable to the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters.

PVCC4U provides one hundred percent of the cost of tuition and fees for full-time, in-state students who:

  • Have an Adjusted Gross Income of $65,000 or less
  • Are enrolled in 12 credit hours or more for the fall 2020 semester
  • Have completed or will complete the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the financial aid process, and are deemed eligible for financial aid
  • Have not already received a bachelor’s degree or higher

Tuition and fees will be covered in the spring 2021 semester for students who:

  • Have completed 75% of fall credits
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Register for a minimum of 12 hours in the spring

“For many low and moderate income individuals and families, college has become unaffordable. PVCC has always been committed to making college accessible for all. PVCC4U is a ground-breaking use of federal, state and PVCC Foundation funds to remove financial barriers to attending college. In this time of high unemployment and economic uncertainty this is the right program at the right time,” PVCC President Frank Friedman said.
