College Drive and Campus Grounds at PVCC to be Closed on July 4, 2020

Charlottesville, Va. – July 2, 2020 – The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) campus and entrance, at 501 College Drive, will be closed to fireworks viewing on July 4, 2020. As the school location is across from Carter Mountain where fireworks are set to be displayed, the campus grounds will be closed to help ensure social distancing as required due to COVID-19.

“The college is located in a position that would provide a good view of the fireworks, however, we cannot be responsible for large groups of people showing up. We are hopeful, as the event organizers recently stated, that the level at which the fireworks will be released (2,000+ feet), will enable everyone in the community to view the display safely from their own homes and yards,” stated VP of Finance and Administrative Services Dr. Ben Copeland.
