PVCC Associate Degree in Nursing Program Ranks in Nursing Schools Almanac Top Twenty
Charlottesville, Va. – April 23, 2020 – The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Associate Degree
in Nursing program has earned a top twenty ranking in Nursing Schools Almanac 2020 rankings. The report lists PVCC as one of the best Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs in the state of Virginia.
For the ADN program rankings, the research team at Nursing Schools Almanac compiled an extensive database of student performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Aspiring registered nurses in the United States must pass this exam before commencing practice. Nursing Schools Almanac used their database to calculate each program’s NCLEX-RN pass rate among first-time test-takers. This is the standard program assessment metric reported by Pearson Vue (the test’s administrator) and the Virginia Board of Nursing.
“The PVCC Associate Degree in Nursing program is well known in the Charlottesville/Albemarle community for producing caring new nurses who are well equipped and ready to begin working right after graduation. This is due in large part to their access to excellent education and the innovative learning opportunities they experience with PVCC faculty and administration,” shared Associate Dean of Nursing Louise Schwabenbauer.
“PVCC also has world-class clinical partners that allow for key clinical education experiences for our nursing students, Schwabenbauer continued. We are so grateful for our internal team and our community partners, all of whom contribute to producing nurses who are ready to excel in the field. In this current pandemic environment, we are proud to be educating nurses who remain a constant in our area workforce and help our local communities.”
