Piedmont Virginia Community College Theatre Department to Present Spamalot as Its Fall Production

The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Theatre Department will present Monty Python’s outrageous and irreverent musical SPAMALOT as its fall production. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23. A matinee performance will take place on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2:30 p.m. Performances will be held in the V. Earl Dickinson Building’s Main Stage Theatre, located on the PVCC main campus in Charlottesville.

“Lovingly ripped-off” from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table in their quest for the Holy Grail. The band of misfit knights encounter strange places and even stranger characters–dancing divas, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits–and one legless knight that challenges them to keep their heads on straight or die terribly weird deaths. The production includes unforgettable musical numbers such as “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” “Find Your Grail,” and “Knights of the Round Table.”

SPAMALOT premiered on Broadway in March of 2005, earning 14 Tony Awards nominations and securing the win in three categories including “Best Musical.” The book was written by Monty Python stalwart Eric Idle, with music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Idle and composer John Du Prez.

General seating ticket prices are $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and students.
