PVCC "One Mic Stand" open mic series begins Sept. 12
Piedmont Virginia Community College will continue its 2019-20 Fine Arts and Performance season with the return of its “One Mic Stand” open mic series for spoken word works on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. The event is free and will take place in the Maxwell Black Box Theatre in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville.
Hosted by United Nations of Comedy Tour founder Ty Cooper, “One Mic Stand” is an open platform for experienced and up-and-coming spoken word artists to share poetry, comedy, political satire, storytelling and more. No experience is required to participate.
Those who wish to perform may sign up at the PVCC Box Office in the lobby of the V. Earl Dickinson Building starting at 6 p.m. on the night of the show.
Additional dates for “One Mic Stand” include Nov. 7, 2019, and Feb. 13 and April 9, 2020. All performances in the series will begin at 7 p.m.
The V. Earl Dickinson Building is located at the south end of College Drive. Ample, free parking is located in front of the building and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
