Piedmont Virginia Community College continues its 2018-19 Fine Arts and Performance Season with an evening of improv theatre and film on Friday, March 15. Events are free and will take place in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville at 501 College Drive.
The PVCC Drama Club will host its final “Third Fridays Improv” workshop of the season from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Black Box Theatre. Participants will develop their skills in various forms of theatrical improvisation before the series culminates with a chance to perform live in front of an audience at the Club’s annual “Improv Night,” slated for Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m.
The Free Movie Friday series will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Main Stage Theatre, featuring a screening of the popular biographical drama “On the Basis of Sex.” Based on the life and early cases of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the film follows Ginsburg’s struggle as she overcomes numerous obstacles in her fight for equal rights.
“On the Basis of Sex” is rated PG-13 for some language and suggestive content. Free, general seating tickets to the film will be distributed, one per person, as the doors to the theatre open at 6 p.m. Patrons will need a ticket stub to enter the theatre. No advance tickets are available.
The V. Earl Dickinson Building is located at the south end of College Drive. Ample, free parking is located in front of the building and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
