Piedmont Virginia Community College continues its 2018-19 Fine Arts and Performance Season with the return of two free monthly series on Friday, Nov. 16. Events will take place in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville.
The PVCC Drama Club will host its monthly Third Fridays Improv workshop from 6 to 7 p.m., in the Maxwell Black Box Theatre. Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Brad Stoller will lead participants through a series of games and exercises introducing the basic tools of theatrical improvisation. The practices, which can benefit actors and non-actors alike, focus on tapping into creativity, improving focus, team building and learning to think fast. Participants should pre-register by contacting Professor Stoller at email@example.com or 434.961.5246.
The next installment in the monthly Free Movie Friday series will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Main Stage Theatre, featuring a screening of the romantic comedy “Crazy Rich Asians.” Based on the best-selling novel, the film follows a Chinese-American professor who accompanies her boyfriend to his home country of Singapore, where she is surprised to learn that his family is extremely wealthy and he is considered the most eligible bachelor in Asia. The movie is rated PG-13 for some suggestive content and language.
The V. Earl Dickinson Building is located at the south end of 501 College Drive. Ample, free parking is located in front of the building and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
