Piedmont Virginia Community College continues its 2018-19 Fine Arts and Performance Season with the return of two free monthly series on Friday, Oct. 19. Events will take place in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville.
Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Brad Stoller will lead participants through a series of warm-ups, games and exercises introducing the basic tools of theatrical improvisation. The practices, which can benefit actors and non-actors alike, focus on tapping into creativity, improving focus, team building and learning to think fast. Participants are urged to pre-register by contacting Professor Stoller at email@example.com or 434.961.5246.
The next installment in the monthly Free Movie Friday series will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre, featuring a screening of award-winning filmmaker Wes Anderson’s 2018 animated science-fiction drama “Isle of Dogs.” The film follows a young boy in a dystopian near-future Japan who embarks on a journey to find his beloved dog after all of the species are banished to an island. The movie is rated PG-13 for thematic elements and some violent images.
Free, general seating tickets to Free Movie Friday will be distributed, one per person, as the doors to the theatre open at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Beryl Solla at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 434.961.5362.
