Piedmont Virginia Community College will open its 2018-19 Fine Arts and Performance season with “Mark Nizer: 4D” on Friday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m., in the Main Stage Theatre in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville.

An award-winning juggler, comedian and inventor, Nizer’s shows have long been known as unique for their original blend of comedy antics, masterful juggling and interactive technology. Now Nizer has become the first ever performer to harness 3D technology in live performances using light, color and depth perception.

Wearing special glasses, attendees will witness certain colors shift to create a new dimension. Red will appear to move forward while blue recedes and green hovers in the middle. The effect causes red laser beams to leap from the stage as Nizer juggles the spinning lasers at 1000 rpms; neon balls will create a musical 3D world that changes with each ricochet off a giant piano; two robots will juggle glowing orbs–one live and one on a large video screen–yet both in 3D.

Nizer works to keep his comedic style family-friendly yet entertaining on levels that appeal to all ages. “The comedy is critical,” Nizer said. “It’s so much fun to make people laugh.”

Since winning the International Juggling Championship, Nizer has performed on thousands of notable stages around the world including The Kennedy Center, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Improv, MTV, Walt Disney World, Comic Strip Live and HBO’s "Just for Laughs."
