New Greene County Appointment to College Board

Fred Richardson

Charlottesville, Va. – Piedmont Virginia Community College announces the recent appointment of Fred Richardson to the PVCC Board by the Greene County Board of Supervisors. He will serve a four-year term expiring in 2018.

A resident of Dyke, Richardson is a retired professor emeritus at the University of Virginia, where he was the Commonwealth Professor of Chemistry and served as Chemistry Department Chair during 1983-87 and 1992-97. Since retiring from U.Va., Richardson has been tutoring and providing academic assistance to students at the Blue Ridge School, consulting with various government agencies and nonprofit educational foundations, and continuing research collaborations with former students and colleagues.

Richardson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Dickinson College and his Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Princeton University.
