Opening Doors for our Students

At PVCC, momentum begins the moment a student steps inside — but our doors are more than just entrances. They are invitations. Invitations to discover potential, pursue purpose, and to share extraordinary futures.

When doors open, lives transform and communities thrive. A PVCC education prepares students for careers as caregivers, problem-solvers, and changemakers — ready to lead, serve, and make lasting impact.

GIVE

Why the Momentum Fund?

Fifty percent of the Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) budget is not supported by the state. Limited funding means many students face barriers to the futures they're ready to build. By giving to the Momentum Fund you provide essential funding for scholarships, support services, and student engagement programs which guide students to graduation and meaningful careers. You hold the key. Give today and help unlock opportunities for students.

Your Gifts in Action

In 2025, the PVCC Educational Foundation allocated $6.4 million to fund academic and workforce programs, scholarships, student success initiatives, and capital improvements. Your support is what keeps that momentum alive. Examples include:

PVCC4U. 100%!
Over the past two academic years, the PVCC4U.100%! tuition assistance program has made a powerful impact. More than 900 students received over $1.5 million in funding to cover the full cost of tuition and fees — with an average award of $1,704 per student. This program is a key reason three out of every four PVCC graduates transfer or enter the workforce without student loan debt.

Momentum Tutoring Program
With the support of an anonymous challenge grant, PVCC established the Momentum Tutoring program. In Spring 2025, embedded tutors supported over 400 students in Math 154 and English 111, contributing to measurable gains in success rates. This fall, the program is at scale, with tutoring available in 34 classes across the college.

Student Travel
Foundation scholarships enabled PVCC students to join two college-sponsored travel programs in 2025, covering most or all expenses. This summer students explored sustainability and AI in France through bootcamps sponsored by the French Embassy, and this spring Geology students traveled to Eastern California as part of field course featuring hikes, hot springs, and hands-on geological study.

Pathways to Tech
In August, PVCC welcomed the first cohort of high school juniors into the High School Engineering Technology Program. Sixteen students from Louisa, Fluvanna, Greene, Albemarle, and homeschool communities are now earning dual credit toward high school graduation and a career studies certificate — fully funded by the Educational Foundation.

New Simulation Labs
In Spring 2026, renovations will begin to expand nursing simulation labs at both the Giuseppe Center in Greene County and the Keats Health Sciences Building on PVCC's Main Campus. These enhanced spaces will better prepare students to become competent, compassionate healthcare professionals.
