How Financial Aid Can Help With Educational Expenses if You Have Been Impacted by COVID-19

If you are experiencing a financial hardship due to COVID-19 or other circumstances you may be eligible for additional financial aid. To determine your eligibility, complete the steps below.

Step 1: Complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), at using school code 009928.

  • Login at to apply or
  • Fill out the form in the myStudentAid mobile app, available in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
  • Need hands on help? Schedule a Zoom meeting with a Financial Aid professional via email
  • If you forgot your username and password or are having issues with login, contact FSA directly. They will help you retrieve your account information.

Step 1a: Apply to PVCC and choose a program of study

  • Submit an Online Application When applying to PVCC, include your social security number (SSN) on the application. The SSN is a personal identifier that links the FAFSA to your student account.
  • Meet with an Advisor . You can choose a program of study, either a degree or certification, at this time.

Step 1b: Update your mailing address, email & phone number in the Student Information System

  • Keeping your contact information up to date means that the PVCC Financial Aid Office can contact you with updates about your financial aid and more.
  • Login to MyPVCC 
    • Click on SIS-Student Information System
    • Select Campus Personal information

Step 2: Already submitted the 2021-2022 FAFSA? Watch for emails from the Financial Aid Office

  • Students can be awarded as early as March for the 2021-2022 Academic Year. If you completed your FAFSA before this time and are unsure about the status of your financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office at

Step 3: Check your “To Do List”

  • Login to MyPVCC 
    • Click SIS Student Information System
    • Select Student Services Center
    • View the To Do List on the right side of the webpage
  • Your To Do List includes descriptions of required documents needed to determine your financial aid eligibility.
  • If there are no To Do List items, contact the PVCC Financial Aid Office

Step 4: Review your financial aid award

  • You will receive an email notification. Also,
  • Login to MyPVCC to check your eligibility
    • Click SIS Student Information System
    • Click Student Services Center
    • Select View Financial Aid
    • Click on Aid Year 2022
  • Aid offered before the semester begins is based on full-time enrollment. If you register less than full-time, your aid is adjusted after the add/drop period for classes to reflect the correct award. 

Step 5: Submit an Income Reduction Appeal 

  • The 2021-2022 FAFSA application reflects your income from 2019. Should you be experiencing a loss or reduction in wages, significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and/or the death of a family member that contributes to your household expenses due to COVID-19 or other circumstances and your financial aid award does not cover your educational expenses, you may request the Financial Aid Office to determine your aid eligibility based on your wage earning from 2020 or 2021.

    • Complete all information requested on the form that applies to your specific circumstances.
    • Provide supporting documentation.
    • Submit the appeal form and documentation via email to the Financial Aid Office at

Step 6: Monitor your email

  • A Financial Aid Advisor will email you with the outcome of your appeal or with additional questions within 3 weeks of submission.
