Celebrate the end of summer with an "out of gallery" art experience where artists show their work in the yards of Belmont neighborhood residents. Join us for a reception on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1 - 4 p.m., at 750 Belmont Avenue. (Reception Rain Date: Sunday, Sept. 11, 1 - 4 p.m)
A sample of exhibits that will be on display includes Circe Strauss’ “Polyps,” a moving, lighted sculpture reminiscent of sea creatures; Deborah Rose Guterbock and A.I. Miller’s “Sick Beets,” a touch-sensitive musical vegetable garden; Lily Erb’s “tangle//untangle,” a sculptural installation constructed of steel and twine that takes its inspiration from cobwebs; and Fenella Belle and Stacey Evans’ collaborative work “Allee of Dreams,” a series of blue silk panels suspended from trees that invites the viewer to pass through and migrate from the ordinary streetscape into an environment of wonder.
Location: Between Belmont Avenue and Clark Elementary School, east of Avon Street, in downtown Charlottesville.
