The Nettle Shirts—part fairy tale, part fiber‑arts tutorial, and part deaf lesbian romance—is a shadow‑puppet show by Nettle Shirts Puppet Works featuring live ASL performances and puppets made from real nettle plants. A tea reception will follow the one‑hour‑long performance.

Nettle Shirts Puppet Works is the puppetry work of Miranda Elliott‑Rader, with support from friends and community members. Elliott-Rader's creations span diverse styles such as shadow puppets, luminaries, paper maché, and found objects. Performances often explore themes of nature and mysticism.

This event is part of a broader series of inquiries inspired by Community Connections: Creative Pathways to Understanding, the exhibition currently on view in the PVCC Gallery. The exhibition features artworks created through local organizations that champion creative access for all—lowering barriers, opening doors to participation, and amplifying diverse voices through the arts.
