Planning
Planning at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is guided by the College's mission. The planning process is coordinated by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research. Leadership for planning is provided by the college's Planning and Budgeting Committee which oversees development and periodic review of the Strategic Plan and ensures a linkage between strategic planning and budgeting by recommending annual funding levels for strategic priorities.
Momentum 2030
Momentum 2030 is PVCC's current strategic plan. It is a framework for continuing the momentum that has made PVCC the community’s college. This framework is made possible because of broad engagement from employees, external stakeholders, and the members of the College’s Planning and Budgeting Committee who led this effort. Annual Planning
Annual Planning at PVCC is a critical component in the Institutional Effectiveness process, aligning the work of individual departments to the PVCC and VCCS Strategic Plans. Major activities each year include development, execution, assessment, and use of results. See timeline below for an example of an annual plan cycle.
Cycle Timeline for Departmental Annual Planning

| April | Plan: Develop department annual plans for the upcoming year that are aligned with the strategic plan. |
| July (7/1) - February | Do: Departments implement annual plans. |
| February | Assess: Departments complete a mid-year review that includes:

| February-June (6/30) | Do: Departments continue implementing annual plans, including any changes as applicable. |
| Summer | Assess: Complete year-end close out. Provide actual results from activities and develop observations/improvement plans from activities. |
| Fall | Use of results: Implement improvement plans that are developed from the assessment of the annual plan. |
