Center for Excellence in Instruction
The mission of The Center for Excellence in Instruction
is to enhance teaching and learning, and increase student success through
ongoing support and development of the faculty.
The Center for Excellence in Instruction is dedicated to working with
faculty to:
- Develop a culture that values and rewards excellence
in teaching and scholarship;
- Recognize and support individual differences among
learners, acknowledging that faculty are themselves diverse, lifelong
learners;
- Connect faculty to provide a network for sharing
classroom strategies and professional development projects;
- Foster innovation in teaching and learning;
- Identify promising models for instruction;
- Nurture scholarship as vital to effective teaching.
The Center for Excellence in Instruction accomplishes this mission by:
- Providing space for faculty to study, exchange
ideas, learn about and experiment with effective methods of teaching and
learning;
- Providing individualized training for the
integration of instructional technology into courses;
- Informing faculty through forums, workshops,
training programs and publications;
- Providing professional development resources such as
pedagogical journals, discipline-specific texts, software and multimedia
tools for course content development.
