Courses: 

  • PNE 186 - Nursing Concepts I
    Introduces principles of nursing including concepts of health, wellness, illness and the nursing process. Develops nursing skills to meet the multidimensional needs of individuals across the life span. Includes computer skills related to the delivery of nursing care. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and/or cooperating agencies. Prerequisite/corequisite: BIO 145 or BIO 141; Prerequisite: Admission into the Practical Nursing program. Lecture 5 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 8 hours per week.
  • NUR 108 - Nursing I
    Teaches principles of nursing, health and wellness concepts, and the nursing process. Identifies nursing strategies to meet the multidimensional needs of individuals. Content includes: math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care, introduction to the profession of nursing, nursing process, documentation; basic needs related to integumentary system, teaching learning, stress, psycho social, safety, nourishment, elimination, oxygenation, circulation, rest, comfort, sensory, fluid, and electrolyte and mobility needs in adult clients. Also includes care of the pre and post operative client. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and or cooperating agencies. Prerequisite: Admission into the Nursing Program; corequisite: NUR 108 clinical and on-campus X-lab. Lecture 3 hours. Hospital lab 6 hours per week. On campus lab 3 hours per week. Total 12 hours per week.
