Associate of Applied Science Degree
Major in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design
Purpose: The curriculum is designed for persons who seek employment in computer-aided drafting and design positions or related fields. Individuals who are seeking their first employment or those presently in the field who are seeking additional knowledge and skills may benefit from this curriculum. Through this program students can develop the technical skills necessary to produce accurate detail and working drawings. Skills are developed using state of the art computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) equipment and software. Learning occurs is a 2D and 3D Solid Modeling environment through practical lab experiences and classroom instruction.
Occupational Objectives: Career development for individuals seeking positions as checker, machine design draftsperson, fixture design draftsperson, detailer, draftsperson, drafting supervisor, computer-aided design operator, or computer-aided design managers.
Admission Requirements: There are no additional admission requirements for this program other than those established by the College for curricular students. Program requirements: The AAS degree in computer-aided drafting and design is a two-year curriculum. The curriculum includes technical courses in computer-aided drafting, general education courses, and electives. Instruction includes both the theoretical concepts and practical applications required for success in the field. The student is urged to consult with Admissions and Records and the faculty advisor in planning a program. Upon completion of the four-semester program, the student will be awarded the associate of applied science degree in computer-aided drafting and design.
Advanced Placement: Students who have successfully completed a two-year high school drafting program, students who have had other types of drafting training or students who have occupational experience as a draftsperson may qualify for advanced placement in the curriculum.
