Charlottesville, VA – Dr. Adam M. Hastings has been named dean of the Business, Mathematics and Technologies Division at Piedmont Virginia Community College, effective Aug. 1. Currently the director of Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC), Hastings has also served as an assistant principal for Charlottesville High School, an adjunct instructor for PVCC and a teacher of middle and high school students in Central Virginia.
“We are extremely pleased that Dr. Hastings will join PVCC,” said President Frank Friedman. “He brings significant teaching and administrative experience to the College and will be a tremendous asset to our faculty, staff and students.”
Hastings received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and Master of Arts degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was awarded a doctorate in education administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of JABA, the Charlottesville Workforce Advisory Council and the Arc of the Piedmont, and holds other leadership positions on area foundations and councils. Hastings has received numerous honors and recognitions, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the USA President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
PVCC’s Division of Business, Mathematics and Technologies offers associate degrees and career studies certificates in high-demand fields such as accounting, business management, engineering, computers, electronics and criminal justice.
