Charlottesville, Va. – Piedmont Virginia Community College encourages prospective students who need financial aid for fall classes to complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov by August 1. Completing the FAFSA determines eligibility for student financial aid such as grants and scholarships (which don’t have to be repaid), work study (part-time work to help pay for college) or low-interest direct loans. Completing the FAFSA after August 1 is permissible, but aid processing could be delayed.
To help prospective students meet the target date, PVCC will host a special financial aid workshop on Saturday, June 14, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Main Campus at 501 College Drive in Charlottesville. One-on-one assistance with completing and electronically filing the FAFSA will be available. Visit www.pvcc.edu/finaidworkshop to see a list of documents needed to complete the FAFSA. Attendees will be notified of eligibility for financial aid in time to register for fall classes and purchase textbooks.

The Financial Aid Office’s summer operating hours through Aug. 8 are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday. PVCC is closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Open enrollment for fall semester 2014 classes begins June 16. The College’s Fall 2014 Credit Class Schedule will be mailed in mid-June to households in PVCC’s service region, which includes the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson and the City of Charlottesville.
