Charlottesville, Va. – Piedmont Virginia Community College and its Board recently recognized two employees for their service to the College and the community.
Kit Decker, professor of Spanish, received the 2014 College Board Service Award. The award recognizes faculty, staff and students who have made significant contributions through volunteer service. In addition to being a member of the Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Decker is a coach and member of the Board for SOKS-Scottsville Organization For Kids Soccer and a volunteer member of the Scottsville Elementary PTO.
Jan Reed, first year programs counselor, received the PVCC 2014 Distinguished Service Award. The award is presented annually by the College to faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to the College and the community. Reed celebrates 30 years of employment with PVCC this year as a counselor in the Office of Admissions and Advising, providing counseling assistance to home-schooled and first-year students. In addition, Reed coordinates first-year student development classes and annual staff celebrations, volunteers her time with student clubs and represents the College at several community events.
