Charlottesville, Va. – Dr. Glenn DuBois, chancellor of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), will be the featured speaker at Piedmont Virginia Community College’s 41st commencement ceremony on May 15. DuBois has led the 23-college system since 2001, through unprecedented enrollment growth and unprecedented cuts in state operating funds.
DuBois came to Virginia with a record of leadership in higher education. His previous positions include commissioner and CEO of the New Hampshire Community Technical College System, and director of community colleges for the State University of New York—one of the nation’s largest networks of community colleges.
DuBois received his doctorate in higher education administration, research and policy from the University of Massachusetts. He holds a master’s degree in juvenile justice and criminology from Eastern Kentucky University, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Florida Atlantic University and an associate of science degree in police science from the State University of New York in Farmingdale.
The commencement will begin at 6 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena, located at 295 Massie Road in Charlottesville. A 30-minute concert by the Charlottesville Municipal Band precedes the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
