Charlottesville, VA -The United Nations of Comedy Tour makes a stop at Piedmont Virginia Community College with comedians Sheng Wang and Funnyman Skiba on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. These veteran performers have appeared on national television and radio and are widely recognized for their universally accessible comedy.
Funnyman Skiba is known for his vivid storytelling and insightful perspective on human nature that translates humor across cultural boundaries. He has been featured on TV network BET's popular series Comic View, and is the co-host of the Raheem Devaughn Radio Show, broadcast online in over 100 countries. Skiba has performed in top comedy clubs throughout the nation and been featured in numerous comedy tours, sharing the stage with well-known comedians including Dave Chapelle, Kevin Hart and Martin Lawrence.
Sheng Wang, a self-described "Taiwanese Texan," has been featured in some of the top comedy festivals and tours throughout the country including the Comedians of Comedy Tour and American Eagle's Campus Comedy Challenge. Wang appeared in his own half-hour television special on the Comedy Central network, and in Live at Gotham and the John Oliver NY Stand Up Show.
Ty Cooper, comedy writer and The United Nations of Comedy Tour promoter, will present a comedy writing workshop Friday, Jan. 31, at 1:30 p.m. Using clips from television series and writing exercises, Cooper will present styles of comedy writing and introduce techniques to help participants find their unique comedic voice. The workshop is for anyone looking to add more humor to their life.
Tickets to The United Nations of Comedy Tour are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets are available by calling the PVCC Box Office and charging them to a VISA or MasterCard, or by purchasing them at Sidetracks, University of Virginia Arts Box Office, Greenberry's Coffee (Barracks Road Shopping Center) and the PVCC Cashier's Office during normal business hours. Tickets can also be purchased at the PVCC Box Office window two hours before the performance.
Admission to the comedy writing workshop is free and open to the public.
