Charlottesville, VA - The annual 7th grade Career Expo will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Oct. 22 and 23 at John Paul Jones Arena, located at 295 Massie Road in Charlottesville.
More than 45 businesses from the Charlottesville area and nearly 2,000 7th grade students from the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene and Nelson are expected to participate. The Career Expo is organized by these school systems with support from PVCC's PIEDMONT FUTURES program and the University of Virginia Community Relations Office.
Area business professionals will host interactive exhibits and give presentations about career opportunities in their fields and the skills, education and training necessary to be successful. In addition to exploring the exhibits, students will participate in an interactive presentation about job skills needed to succeed in the work place, maximizing high school opportunities and preparing for college.
PIEDMONT FUTURES, the business-education alliance, recruited the business professionals who will be speaking and hosting exhibits at Career Expo. The alliance is sponsored by the five participating public school systems in collaboration with Piedmont Virginia Community College.
