Census.gov collects data on the economy, population and government of the United States.
GPO FDsys is the Government Printing Office Web site. Online databases include the federal budget, Code of Federal Regulations, U.S. Code and Supreme Court decisions from 1937-1975.
USA.gov is the official Web directory for the United States government.
FedWorld Information Network offers a comprehensive inventory of information disseminated by the federal government. The National Technical Information Service of the Department of Commerce created the Web site.
Statistical Abstract of the United States contains a collection of statistics on social and economic conditions.
American FactFinder, from the U.S. Census Bureau, offers population, housing, economic and geographic data.
The World Factbook is published annually by the CIA and has a wealth of information in publications about many countries.
Fedstats provides links to a variety of statistical data.

Elections
Federal Election Commission provides information on campaign financing.
League of Women Voters, a non-partisan organization, works to advocate for and influence government policy.
American National Election Studies (ANES) provides data on voting, public opinion and political participation.
Project Vote Smart provides information on voting, interest groups and campaign finances.
FactCheck.org, a non-partisan, non-profit organization, verifies the accuracy of statements made by public officials.


Executive Branch
White House is a link to the official White House Web site. It has a broad range of information, from daily press releases to virtual White House tours.

Legislative Branch
U.S. House of Representatives official Web site.
U.S. Senate official Web site.
ProQuest Congressional provides access to U.S. legislative information, including the full text of proposed legislation and its status. It has brief biographies of current members of Congress, including their contact information and committee memberships. Available through computers on campus or by current PVCC faculty, staff and students from off campus.
United States Code is a link to the most recent version of the United States Code made available by the U.S. House of Representatives. Search by the law's name, by browsing the list of 50 titles or by using a search engine.
National Atlas of the United States offers simple maps of each District of the 112th Congress (January 2011-January 2013).
U.S. Public Laws is a database of laws enacted for the 104th Congress (1995-96) to the 108th Congress, prepared and published by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration.
Thomas offers general legislative information and is a service of the U.S. Congress through the Library of Congress.
Congressional Biographical Directory has short biographical sketches of members of the U.S. Congress from 1774 to the present.
Fast Facts for Congress, from the U.S. Census Bureau, provides links to information on demographics, the economy and the census. Statistics about congressional districts also are provided.

Judicial Branch
Findlaw provides access to many legal resources, including Supreme Court decisions, law reviews and state resources.
Legal Information Institute provides Supreme Court opinions under the auspices of Project Hermes, the court's electronic-dissemination project. The text of all decisions after May 1990 and 600 of the most important cases before 1990 may be searched by topic or party name.
Justice Information Center has extensive information about criminal and juvenile justice. It is a collection of sources from the Department of Justice and other federal agencies. Look here for statistical information about school crime, alcohol-related offenses and drug purchase and use patterns.
The Federal Judiciary has information about the federal courts, including a description of the various courts, statistical reports of judicial business and publications relating to the federal judiciary.

State Government
National Conference of State Legislatures provides information on a variety of topics including healthcare, education and immigration.
State and Local Government on the Net links to government-sponsored Web sites in every state.

Virginia Government
Virginia Government includes links to the Governor's Web site, state agencies, the code of Virginia and more.
Virginia General Assembly provides information about the legislature, including the names and addresses of your state and federal legislators.
Virginia Code offers access to the statutory laws of Virginia. Search by phrase or by browsing the table of contents.
Commonwealth of Virginia Division of Legislative Services serves the research needs of the General Assembly.
Legislative Information System provides access to the bills and resolutions of each General Assembly session.
Division of Legislative Services Redistricting 2010 provides Virginia legislators and the public with information on the legislative districts and plans currently being proposed.
VaStats, created by the Center for Economic Policy Studies at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, offers links to resources on a variety of topics including demographics, crime and the economy.
Virginia State Board of Elections provides information and collects statistics on Virginia elections.
Virginia Workforce Connection provides information on the labor market in Virginia as well as a wealth of resources for job seekers.

Embassyworld.com links to embassies, consulates and UN missions around the world.
Nations of the world has links to constitutions, the full text of laws, regulations and court decisions for many countries. There are also links to general information, including the CIA-produced World Factbook.
ciao or Columbia International Affairs Online, is a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes working papers from university research institutes, foundation-funded research projects and proceedings from conferences from the year 1991 to present. Available through computers on campus or by current PVCC faculty, staff and students from off campus.
