The name Kluge-Moses Science Building was chosen by the Piedmont Virginia Community College Board to honor Patricia Kluge, founder, owner and chairwoman of Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard in Albemarle County, and William J. Moses, its CEO, for their $1.2 million gift to PVCC in support of science and health programs and labs. In addition, Moses serves as a member of the PVCC Educational Foundation Board of Directors. Their gift is the largest in PVCC's history.
The couple also helped to establish the viticulture and enology program at PVCC, the first of its kind in Virginia.
Kluge and Moses were among benefactors from Virginia's 23 community colleges who in April 2007 received leadership in philanthropy awards from Virginia Community College System Chancellor Glenn DuBois. In presenting the awards, former Virginia Governor Gerald Baliles saluted the philanthropists for their "matchless passion for the mission of community college and their outstanding service in education on behalf of all Virginians."
