A Career Expo is held for 7th grade students each fall. This year's Expo was held October 31 and November 1 at U.Va.'s John Paul Jones Arena. The Expo, sponsored the schools of Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene and Nelson in collaboration with the PIEDMONT FUTURES program at PVCC, provides nearly 2,000 students with the opportunity to explore careers hands-on through interactive displays hosted by over 40 area businesses.
Students also attend an interactive presentation on Workplace Readiness Skills led by area business professionals. This year's presenters included Craig Littlepage, Director of Athletics at U.Va., Maurice Jones, Charlottesville City Manager, Robert Mayfield, Plant Manager of Tenaska Power, Jim Hanchett, News Director/Anchor at the Newsplex, Jay James, Sports Director at WINA, Paul Beyer, V.P. of Development at R.L. Beyer Construction and Media Baldwin, CEO of Diversified Seminars, Inc.
