Academic Computing Labs
Classrooms equipped with networked computers, printers and other equipment designed to support classroom instruction are located throughout the college. The main computer lab is located in room 832 and other labs are located in rooms 154, 813, 823, 828 and 829. Computers can also be found in the Jessup Library, the Learning Center (Room 605) and the Chemistry (Room 257), Physics (Room 830) and Electronics (Room 831) Labs. Academic computing labs may be scheduled for classroom instruction and lab assistants are available to assist students. Faculty Computers
All faculty have access to the computers located in the main academic computing lab (Rooms 832, 102 and the adjunct office in the Dickinson Building have computers). All faculty have a PVCC Email account, which they are encouraged to use, so that they may more easily receive information distributed to the college community and facilitate communication with students. Information about email accounts may be obtained by contacting the Information Technology Helpdesk at help@pvcc.edu or at 434.961.5261.
Faculty Software
All college computers are provided with computer software to assist faculty with their instruction and professional duties. Currently, the college supports Microsoft Office 2003, which includes a word processor (Word), a presentation package (PowerPoint), a spreadsheet package (Excel) and a database package (Access). Microsoft Office 2003 CDs are available for checkout in the PVCC Jessup Library for installation on home computers. Symantec Antivirus and Anti-spam software is now provided to faculty and staff for their home computers at no cost. The software CDs are also available for checkout in the Jessup Library here at PVCC. Additional software specific to certain disciplines is also available at division offices.
Faculty Telephone
Telephone and voicemail service is available to the College faculty. Adjunct faculty, if interested, must request this service by contacting the Information Technology Helpdesk at help@pvcc.edu or at 434.961.5261.
Wireless Campus
Wireless internet access is available throughout the PVCC buildings with coverage extending to some parts of the grounds and gardens around the buildings. For more information regarding wireless internet access, including coverage areas, please go to the FAQs, Guides & Tutorials page.
FTP Server
For large file transfer, an FTP server is available to faculty, staff and administrators from Internet enabled machines.
Faculty and Staff VPN Announced

Technical Support
Technical assistance designed to help faculty use their computer hardware and software is available at all hours the college is open. Faculty should telephone the Help Desk at extension 5261 or email at help@pvcc.edu to request technical support.
Administrative Computing
Administrative computing services of interest to faculty include class rosters, grade reports and access to student or class data. The Administrative Computing Office is located in room 602.
