POSITION TITLE:                       Case Manager - Youth Grant (Grant Funded)

General Statement

Piedmont Virginia Community College seeks a full-time Case Manager to provide case management and career counseling services to economically disadvantaged and at-risk youths in Planning District 10.  This is a one-year grant funded position starting on July 1, 2008.  Funding is provided through the Federal Workforce Investment Act.  Hiring is contingent upon receipt of funding.

 

Reference and criminal background checks are required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Client Recruitment:

  • Transition current clients, recruit new clients, and verify eligibility

Assessment and Planning

  • Assess attitudes, academic level, and vocational interests using TABE, Kuder, and Career Scope.

  • Identify the client's career goal and design the client's educational plan, job training program, recommended case management and supportive services, and job placement strategy.

  • Coordinate delivery of services to clients, resulting in attainment of performance standards

  • Implement and track the client's educational plan, job training program and job placement.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Experience in counseling or related a related position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Advising and counseling skills; effective written and oral communication skills; organizational skills; problem solving and decision making skills

  • Computer literacy (data entry, report generation and automated spreadsheet)

  • Knowledge of the Workforce Investment Act mandated outcomes for the Youth Grant

Salary:   Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
