Deadlines for 2012-2013 scholarships
March 9, 2012
May 4, 2012 for 2012 high school graduates only
Who Can Apply
New and returning students who qualify for in-state tuition.
Unless otherwise stated in individual scholarships, students must have and maintain a 2.0 grade point average in order to be eligible for PVCC Educational Foundation scholarships.
What You Need to Apply
- Seven-digit student ID you received when you applied to PVCC. If you have not yet applied to the College, you must do so before you apply for scholarships. Apply to PVCC now.
- High school students must provide transcripts from their high schools. Other first-time PVCC students must provide transcripts from any other colleges they attended (except for other community colleges in Virginia).
- One letter of recommendation. For current students, this must come from a classroom instructor. For adults returning to school, the letter should come from your employer or someone other than a family member who knows you well. For high school students, a classroom instructor is preferred but a letter may come from your guidance counselor.
Transcripts and letters of recommendation may be mailed to:
PVCC Development Office
501 College Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22902
Or sent as email attachments to sdowell@pvcc.edu
Or hand-delivered to room M246 in PVCC's Main Building.
The Development Office will upload your documents. These must be in place before you can complete the final step and submit the application. Gather and submit these materials early.
Tips for Completing the Application
- The application software is hosted online by the STARS Scholarship System. The system will time out if there is no activity for an extended period of time.
- Review the entire application before you begin.
- Answer the free form essay questions in another program, Microsoft Word for example, and then cut and paste them into the application. Use complete sentences and answer each question. Stay within the word limit.
- If you make changes to the questionnaire, you may need to re-enter all or part of the questionnaire as variables will have changed.
- Be sure to save and continue before leaving each page.
Financial Need
The online application allows students to provide financial information. However, students applying for scholarships with a need component MUST complete the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) by the scholarship application deadline in order to be considered for those scholarships
Verification
All information submitted is subject to verification. GPA, residency and program of study will be verified through transcripts or PeopleSoft. Applicants that knowingly provide false information will be disqualified from all scholarships.
Note: Only students who have been formally admitted into health sciences programs may select those programs of study. For example, students are enrolled in general studies for nursing until they are admitted into the nursing program.
