Piedmont Virginia Community College is committed to shared governance, a formal partnership between the administration and constituencies of faculty, support staff and students. The mechanism for sharing governance involves six College standing committees and the Senate,
Committees
All College committee work takes place under the purview of these six standing committees:
- Administrative Services
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Information Technology
- Personnel and Benefits
- Planning and Budgeting
- Student Services
Senate
The Senate as a legislative body of representatives is responsible for review of College policy and procedure and for making recommendations on such matters to the President or Vice Presidents. In doing so, the Senate serves as the official voice of the College. The members are representatives from each constituency and abide by the bylaws and constitution of the Senate.
The Senate is committed to cooperation with associations and committees, honoring their proposals when presented by a senator or standing committee in the usual manner.
