The Career Center at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is committed to protecting the privacy of the electronic personal information of its users. We operate computer systems that are developed by our technical group and also partner with external organizations for our job listing, resume database and on-campus recruiting services.
Partners
JobNet is the Career Center's online system for job listing, resume database and on-campus recruiting services. These services are provided through the NACElink Network, a web-based recruiting system resulting from a new alliance between the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a nonprofit professional organization for career centers and employers, the Direct Employers Association, a nonprofit association of national employers, and Symplicity, a state-of-the-art technology provider of web-based tools and software solutions. All privacy policies for our partners have been reviewed by the Career Center.
Data Collection and Usage
Data collected by the Career Center for in-house systems is stored on NACElink secure servers and is used to provide and tailor services to our customers. These systems use cookies and some collect system information such as IP address and browser versions. Cookies are a small piece of information sent by a Web server to store on a Web browser so that it can be read back from that browser. Information is also used to construct aggregate reports that assist us in program planning. Any information shared with third parties is only shared in aggregate form. Collection and access to student information is governed by federal and PVCC policy under the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the PVCC Privacy Policy.
Students
Jobs posted on the JobNet/NACElink system may or may not be reviewed before posting. Employers may post jobs directly to the site and the presence of job announcements on this Web site does not indicate an endorsement from Career Services or PVCC. Career Services acts only as an intermediary between employers posting job opportunities and candidates searching for job opportunities. Career Services is not involved in the actual transaction between employers and candidates.
Students are responsible for all necessary precautions when applying for these positions and for checking the credentials of an employer. Do not disclose social security numbers, credit card information or bank account numbers with unknown employers.
External Websites
As a convenience, Career Services creates links to other Web sites which may help students in exploring career and education options. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these additional Web sites.
