To take credit classes, follow the steps below. E-mail the Help Desk or call 434.961.5261 if you experience difficulty using any of PVCC's online services.

  1. Apply to PVCC. After completing your online application, you will receive an EmplID number on the confirmation page. Please have this number available as you complete the registration process.

  2. Apply for financial aid. Most financial aid is availably to degree or certificate seeking students only. All such students are encouraged to apply for financial aid. You may apply for financial aid at any time, but the best time to apply is in the early spring of the year you will begin at PVCC. In addition to federal and state financial aid, PVCC offers scholarships for students just like you.

  3. Send official transcripts to PVCC if you are pursuing a degree or certificate or if the class in which you plan to enroll at PVCC requires a prerequisite that you fulfilled at another school.

  4. Meet with an Admissions Specialist to determine need for placement testing and help determine other services you may need. E-mail the Welcome Center or call 434.961.6551 to set up an appointment.

  5. Take placement tests. If you plan to pursue a degree or certificate you may need to take placement tests. In addition, if you plan to take English or math classes, you will need to take placement tests. The Learning Center at PVCC administers these tests free of charge.

  6. Meet with counselor in Counseling and Career Services. It is important to review your placement test scores, transcripts and program of study with a PVCC counselor. To make an appointment e-mail the Counseling Center or call 434.961.5264.

  7. Register for classes online through MyPVCC. Explore the PVCC class schedule to decide which classes you would like to take. All first-time, first-year students are required to enroll in the Student Development SDV 101 First Year Success class.

  8. Pay tuition and fees at MyPVCC or set up automatic payments through Nelnet (formerly FACTS). When you register for classes, the Student Information System will indicate how much you owe. Tuition must be paid before attending class.

  9. Purchase textbooks from the PVCC Bookstore or PVCC's Used Book Web site. If you are receiving financial aid, you may charge books to your financial aid account at the Bookstore after you receive your financial aid award letter from PVCC and only during the week before classes begin and through the second week of classes. PVCC's Bookstore is located in the Main Building.
