How do I get copies of my PVCC transcripts?
You can request official PVCC transcripts free of charge:

  • online at MyPVCC

    To have your transcript sent to another college or university, go to the Self-Service menu in MyPVCC. Select the Official Transcript Request link to submit the form online. You can also select options to View Unofficial Transcript and Request Official Transcript under the link for Academic Records.

  • in person at the Welcome Center
  • by faxing or mailing a transcript request form to the Welcome Center.

You will need the recipient's complete mailing address to complete the form. You may request up to five copies at one time. Please allow five business days for PVCC to process your request.

What is MyPVCC and how do I use it?
MyPVCC is a portal through which a single log-on is used to access Blackboard, the Student Information System, and student e-mail.

  1. From a computer that is connected to the Internet, go to www.pvcc.edu.
  2. Click on the MyPVCC link.
  3. Enter your Username and Password and then click on Log In.
  4. Click on the Look Up Username/Password Help links if you need assistance.
  5. Click on the VCCS SIS 8.9 (Student Information System) link located under My Tools.
  6. Click on Self Service.
  7. Choose from the options available to request transcripts, register for classes or access account information.

What is my EmplID or ID number and why do I need it?
Assigned when you initially apply to PVCC, the EmplID is your unique identification number (ID number) in our Student Information System. Remember your EmplID! You'll need it when you register for classes, and some offices at PVCC will request it in order to access your records.

Here's how to find your EmplID:

  1. From a computer that is connected to the Internet, go to www.pvcc.edu.
  2. Click on the MyPVCC link.
  3. Click on the Look Up Username/Password Help
  4. Enter your personal information and click on Search
  5. Your information, including your EmplID (ID Number) will appear.

If you still cannot find your EmplID number, please contact the Welcome Center

How do I access the PVCC College Catalog?
The PVCC College Catalog is available online. It contains information about admissions, College policies, programs of study and other general information. If you need a printed copy of the Catalog, contact the Welcome Center.

Where can I find class schedules?
Schedules in both online and print formats become available when registration begins each semester. A printed PVCC class schedule is mailed to residents and businesses in PVCC's service region: the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Green, Louisa and Nelson. You can also find a printed schedule of classes in the Welcome Center.

You can also view the schedule online or access it through MyPVCC. If you do not have a MyPVCC account, you can log in as a guest and view the types of classes offered at PVCC.

How can I become classified as an in-state student?

If I am not a U.S. citizen, can I attend PVCC?
If you have a current visa or permanent resident card, you may enroll in classes at PVCC. Please bring a copy of your cards to the Welcome Center when you register. If you need information on obtaining an F-1/I-20 student visa, please e-mail PVCC's Dean of Student Services or call 434.961.6540.

Undocumented Students
It is the policy of PVCC to admit applicants who are immigrants residing in Virginia who have graduated from a Virginia high school with a high school diploma or equivalent, even if they are not able to document their legal presence. These applicants will pay tuition at the out-of-state rate.

Does PVCC offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes?
Yes, PVCC offers ESL classes. Once you have applied to PVCC and met with an Admissions Specialist, you will take a placement test to determine your starting level.

Do you have services for students with disabilities?
Yes. PVCC strives to maintain a barrier-free environment and provide appropriate support services necessary to ensure that students with disabilities have access to our educational programs. Well before enrolling in classes at PVCC, a student with disabilities should contact PVCC's Disability Services Counselor. For more information, please visit the Students with Disabilities webpage.

How should I send my transcripts to PVCC?
PVCC requires an official copy of your high school transcript if you:

  • Are interested in nursing, surgical tech, emergency medical services programs or other health care programs.
  • Wish to apply for scholarships or grants.

If you have previously attended a college outside of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), PVCC requires an official copy of your college transcript if you wish to receive credit. In addition to your transcript, students must complete/submit a Transcript Evaluation Request Form (available on line and from the Welcome Center) to receive both outside and VCCS credit.

How can I become a registered nurse?
PVCC offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree that prepares you for RN licensure. For more information, contact PVCC's Math, Sciences and Human Services division at 434.961.5445.

In addition, PVCC offers a variety of healthcare related degrees and certificates. To find out more about our programs, please make an appointment to meet with an Admissions Specialist in the Welcome Center or contact the Math, Sciences and Human Services division at 434.961.5445.

How can I become a licensed real estate agent?
PVCC offers the REA 100 Principles of Real Estate class to prepare you for licensing as a real estate agent. For more information, e-mail PVCC's Business and Technologies division or call 434.961.5348.

What do I have to do to officially graduate?
You must fulfill all of the course and credit-hour and grade-point average requirements for the associate degree or certificate program in which you enrolled, and apply for graduation through the Welcome Center. All degree and certificate requirements are explained in PVCC's College Catalog. For more information, including graduation application deadlines, please visit the Graduation webpage.

What is PeopleSoft?
PeopleSoft is the computer software that the 23 community Colleges in Virginia use to manage their student records. It is also referred to as the SIS or Student Information System. You'll hear the term "PeopleSoft" a lot around PVCC.
